Selected Sources

Exceptional work begins with the right sources.

The quality of a residence is determined long before installation. It begins with choosing manufacturers and craftspeople capable of meeting the architectural intent — and supporting it through fabrication, coordination, and execution.

The Standard

A network built through experience.

The sources shown here represent only a small portion of the manufacturers, fabricators, and craftspeople we consider. The right team is assembled individually for each residence, based on its architecture, technical requirements, location, and ownership priorities.

Our advantage is not access to a list. It is knowing who belongs on the project, how their work should be coordinated, and what is required to achieve the intended result. The companies shown are representative selections, not a complete network or formal affiliation.

Windows & Doors

The Exterior Opening Package

Openings set the sightlines, light, thermal performance, and water management of the residence. We consider profiles, glazing, hardware integration, detailing, finish durability, and whether the system serves the architecture as a whole.

Tischler und Sohn

Custom-engineered wood and metal window and door systems for projects where standard solutions cannot satisfy the architecture or performance requirements.

Hope's Windows

Custom steel and bronze windows and doors distinguished by slender sightlines, material permanence, and extensive design flexibility.

Architectural Hardware

Hardware Is Architecture, Not Accessory

Proportion, weight, geometry, finish chemistry, and how a finish will age are architectural decisions. Hardware must be resolved early because door thickness, prep, and millwork detailing follow from it.

Nanz & Company

Fine architectural hardware manufactured for residences in which proportion, finish, and tactile quality are integral to the design.

Rocky Mountain Hardware

Handcrafted bronze architectural hardware with a distinctive material character, individually cast and hand-finished for warmth and permanence.

Cabinetry & Millwork

Execution of Bespoke Architectural Millwork

Millwork is where drawings meet reality. We evaluate shop drawing discipline, joinery, substrates, finishing, field measurement, and continuity from drawings through installation. We source exceptional trim and millwork materials from specialized suppliers across the country, wherever the project demands it. We favor independent, custom-only millwork fabricators over commercial product lines or production cabinetry. The work should be made for the room, not adapted from a catalog.

Parenti & Raffaelli

Architectural woodworking combining traditional cabinetmaking with contemporary engineering, fabrication, finishing, project management, and installation for complex, one-of-a-kind millwork packages.

Stone & Surfaces

Sourcing, Fabrication, and Layout Control

Stone is bought twice: once as material, once as fabrication. Slab selection, continuity, vein matching, layout, edge detailing, support, anchorage, and sealing determine whether the finished work reads as architecture.

Marmi Natural Stone

Global stone sourcing paired with shop drawings, engineering, fabrication, project management, logistics, and installation across architectural interiors and exteriors.

Fittings & Fixtures

Finish Coordination Across an Entire Room

Baths and kitchens depend on coordination. Rough-in dimensions, valve families, wall thickness, finish consistency, and long-term parts availability need to be reconciled before a wall is closed.

Waterworks

Cohesive collections spanning fittings, fixtures, surfaces, hardware, lighting, and accessories when material consistency and historically informed detailing matter across a room.

Building Envelope

Roofing Chosen for a Century, Not a Warranty Period

A roof is a system: profile and exposure, underlayment and flashing, fastening, structural loading, and the availability of matching material decades later all matter.

Ludowici

Architectural terra-cotta roofing with custom molds, textures, colors, and historic reproductions for substantial traditional, Mediterranean, historic, and estate residences.

Our Perspective

The product is only part of the decision.

An exceptional product can still produce a disappointing result when it is specified incorrectly, ordered incompletely, poorly coordinated, or improperly installed. We help owners and project teams evaluate the entire chain:

  • Appropriateness for the architecture and environment
  • Technical performance and detailing
  • Customization and finish control
  • Fabrication and delivery risk
  • Installation requirements
  • Service, warranty, and long-term maintainability

The objective is not to specify the most expensive option. It is to identify the right source, establish the right expectations, and protect the quality of the finished residence.

Independent judgment at every decision.

The Private Build Group brings an owner's perspective to product selection, procurement, coordination, and execution — helping ensure that exceptional materials become exceptional work.
